Abstract Painting
A painting workshop with Marijke IJff

Drop all of the painting rules you may have been taught and come paint what you are feeling in the moment! This will be an evening of painting colors, shapes, experimenting, layering, and enjoying the process! Abstract art is all about composing pieces that do not necessarily represent anything in particular, but can portray many things to different people.
Art is often seen as something for the viewer, but that is really just a by-product of creating. In this class we are going to focus on our experience while creating and not so much about the ‘end product.’ We will start with a loose warm up that will help us to all get comfortable and then try out a couple of different techniques. Everyone will then get to create a large abstract painting that will be broken up into smaller individual pieces by the end of the class.
