These sessions will seek to offer a unique community support for parents and families that want to expand their perspectives and understanding about parenting, human development, caring for and mentoring children and teens.
While there are many joys in being a parent, there are also many challenges. We will create a safe space to talk about these challenges, as well as offer advice and strategies for being responsive to your child/children’s needs.
We will discuss challenging behaviors, children experiencing anxiety/disengagement, risky play and development, the social and academic trials of being a student and children and technology.
This is a confidential, judgment-free zone where experiences and resources are shared. Participants can learn from one another and from the facilitator through storytelling, research-based information and experience.
Parent support groups create a greater sense of belonging, cultivate deeper connections between partners, give us hope and humor in the face of frustration and desperation, and help individuals build skills and find time for self-care.
Facilitator: Erin Dews has 28 years of experience as an educator and director for early childhood programs, child development programs, parent support programs, mentoring teachers at SBCC and in forest school trainings.
