Watercolor Techniques
A watercolor workshop with Monika Metzenthin
Wednesday March 22nd, 2023 - 5.30pm - 7.30pm
Have you ever looked at a watercolor and wondered: How did they do that? And then thought to yourself: I wish I could do that!
In this workshop we will learn the basics of successful watercolor painting and uncover some secrets of amazing watercolor effects. We will practice “moving the puddle” and “letting gravity do its thing” when applying a wash, let colors blend wet-in-wet, lift and splatter, find out what happens when we toss salt and drop rubbing alcohol, and experiment with a variety of resist techniques. All technique samples will be put together in your own watercolor techniques book to take home and have on hand the next time you embark on a watercolor study.
This is a great introduction for the beginner and a wonderful review for intermediate watercolorists. Materials are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own supplies to experiment with what is familiar to you.
Your instructor will be Teaching Artist Monika Metzenthin who has been facilitating creative experiences for audiences of all ages in all media for over two decades.
