Miniatures Studio Workshop!

Miniature crafting workshops with Erin, Courtney and Diana

Wednesday September 27th, 2023 - 5.30pm - 7pm

In these studio workshops we will be crafting and creating miniatures that we invite participants to submit for our next show at C5 Studios!

Tiny models date back to the 3rd Millennium when small wooden creations of beings and objects were placed in Egyptian tombs. Miniature paintings and etchings came to life 2500 years ago, and dioramas born in1822 in Paris have been a part of the intellectual architecture in museums ever since.

From a flea circus to a village in a matchbox or a tiny Eiffel Tower from your trip to Paris, objects that construct worlds within worlds have played a significant role in our advancement, education, imagination and happiness. Many studies have shown that just seeing something tiny releases our love and positivity hormones, oxytocin and dopamine, so miniature things cause us to increase our capacities for love, empathy, reverence and nurturing.

These workshops are for people aged 9+.
