Full Bloom
Dave Titus
The magnificent Polemonium only grows at altitude, most often seen at 12,000 feet above sea level or higher. The endemic flower blooms annually out of the rugged lichen-encrusted granite, and from piles of stone at the highest reaches of the Sierra Crest. It’s beautiful flowers of deep purple and blue petals beckon butterflies and bees and hummingbirds all spring. But more incredible than location or color is its fragrant aroma; capturing the sweetest imagination of anyone who smells it. To climb ever higher and smell it in person is worth more than a thousand photos. ~ Dave Titus
