Sustainable Candle Making

A candle making workshop with Monika Metzenthin

Saturday February 24th, 2022 - 3:30pm - 5:30pm

Sorry, this workshop is now SOLD OUT!

Join us for a fun workshop where we're turning old candles into new house-and heart-warming creations, all while saving the planet one candle at a time!

In this workshop, we're bringing sustainability and style together as we melt down candle stumps and transform them into fabulous, eco-friendly lights.

Enjoy making and decorating your own unique candles, perfect for cozying up your home or spreading the warmth with heartfelt gifts for your favorite people. We'll provide all the materials, guidance, and good vibes you need for an afternoon filled with laughter, creativity, and the sweet smell of success (and wax, of course).

So, let's melt away the old, light up the new, and have a blast while doing it! Don't miss out on this candle-making fest—it's recycling, repurposing, and a whole lot of fun rolled into one!

No prior experience needed.

Please note we will be working with hot materials; we invite participants ages 16 and up.

All materials will be provided, but please feel free to bring any of the following:

  • Old candles and candle stumps

  • Essential oils to add to your wax

  • Small glass, metal, or porcelain containers

  • Heat resistant gloves (or basic rubber gloves)

  • Tongs

  • Apron

  • An old pot

  • An electric countertop burner or two or three. The more burners we have the more wax we can melt the more candles you can make!

Your host this afternoon will be Teaching Artist Monika Metzenthin who has over two decades of facilitating creative experiences for audiences of all ages in all media.
