Storytelling at Teatime
An Introduction to the Oral Tradition of Storytelling
A Storytelling Workshop with Erin Boehme and a Cup of Tea
Saturday, October 16th, 2021 2pm - 4pm
Join us over a cup of tea and a biscuit or two as we discuss the ancient art of Oral Storytelling. We will identify the elements that come together to form a story, the behaviors of a storyteller and how it is significant, the brain and what happens in our bodies and minds when we are in the presence of an oral storyteller. We will travel through lore, fables, legends, myths, anecdotes and media as we allow the depth of storytelling to seep into our lives. You will be provided relevant reading material to take home.
Find out why storytelling is important to children, developing minds, and for the culture of our community. Because storytelling came before written language, we know that it plays a significant role in our lives. We can connect deeply to lessons, knowledge, magic, information, emotions and our entire sensory system just through listening to a story. We have the power to build stronger communities, heal from trauma and cultivate curiosity when we share stories with one another.
Future storytelling workshops will be offered to support us all to build the skills to become a storyteller!
Tea and baked delights will be provided for your enjoyment.
This workshop is for teens and adults.
