Intermediate/Advanced Spoon Carving
A Spoon-Carving Workshop with Steve White
Thursday November 4th, 2021 - 6:00 - 8:00pm
Location: Steve White Woodworking studio, 336 Hammond St, Bishop
The wooden spoon, used by nearly all cultures, ancient by design and elevated to an artist's tool as a preferred cooking utensil. In Wales, young men would carve intricate "lovespoons" to give their sweethearts. Join Steve White in his woodworking studio to creatively design your own spoon as an object of grace or allow something wild and decorative to emerge. Wood and tools will be provided. You may also bring your own wood if you have that special piece ready!
This class is for intermediate and advanced level carvers or those who have participated in the 2 part beginners course - more info HERE
All materials and tools will be provided.
About the instructor: Steve White has been building things out of wood all his life. His first real piece of furniture was a chest of drawers designed and built for a friend in 1990. The enjoyment of building it began his furniture career. His work is contemporary, and has evolved into a style which uses an interplay of gentle curves to form elegant compositions using only solid wood and traditional joinery.
