Sewing From a Pattern and Making Clothes That Fit!
A sewing workshop with M Hundley
This is a two-part workshop and registrants should plan to attend both sessions:
Saturday March 9th, 2024 - 2pm - 5pm
Saturday March 16th, 2024 - 2pm - 5pm
Do you dream of making your own clothes that fit just right? Have you seen vintage patterns for clothes in thrift stores and wondered how to go about making them? In this two-part workshop discover the world of possibilities when you lean how to follow a sewing pattern and how to resize/alter patterns to fit YOU!
During the first session (3/9) participants will explore altering a pattern to fit, cutting out/marking and start sewing if there is time.
During the second session (3/16) participants will sew their garment
Participants are required to bring their own:
Sewing Machine and parts (If you do not have access to a machine reach out to us at contact@c5studios.org and we may have one you can borrow)
Sewing Pattern (choose something you want to wear or has elements you want to learn how to put in, simple is better)
Fabric*, any specific notions, thread, interfacing, etc required for your pattern.
The following will be available to use, but please bring these also if you have them:
Fabric Scissors or Rotary Cutter
Measuring tape
*Muslin is a good choice if you want to create a “mockup” to understand your pattern better before sewing it up in nice fabric. Avoid knits, anything with stretch, lightweight silky fabrics unless you have some experience using them. Feel free to inquire if you would like recommendations for your pattern of choice.
No experience required.
