Introduction to Cross Stitch – Not Your Nana’s Needlework
A cross-stitch workshop with Ann Strohm
Saturday, December 16th, 2023 - 2pm - 4pm
Cross stitch is making a comeback among modern makers. In this beginner workshop, you will learn the basics as you complete a cute and funny adult merit badge that you can take home and hang on your wall.
We will cover how to read and work from a cross stitch pattern chart, what types of fabric, embroidery floss, needles and other tools are needed, how to prepare your fabric to create a desired image, and how to “frame” your finished piece in an embroidery hoop
All materials will be provided and are included in class cost, including pattern, fabric, embroidery floss, hoop, and needle. We will be working on a merit badge of your choice created by Zahra Design Studio, an independent pattern designer. You will choose ONE badge to work on in a 3 inch hoop as your class project. You will leave with the know-how to make the entire group of badges! Please note: Cross stitch is slow-going, so most students will not complete the project during class.
Due to the specialist materials required for this workshop there is a materials fee of $10 per participant required in addition to the registration fee that must be brought on the day of the workshop.
