Advanced Knitting Techniques - Color Work!
A knitting workshop with Mary Newton
Saturday December 9th, 2023 - 10.30am - 1.30pm
Are you an experienced knitter who wants to learn how to do color work?
Instructor Mary Newton is excited to share her knowledge of how to make this beautiful, colorful hat and learn the art of using more than one color! Additionally, participants will learn the technique of “locking floats”, which makes the inside as beautiful as the exterior of your hat!
These pictures of the outside and inside of the hat show how locked floats add a clean, beautiful interior!
Materials - You will need to purchase the pattern linked below and bring your own needles and the yarn that is the suggested weight. It’s a great way to do some stash-busting!

Please note: Please do a gauge swatch: 24 st =4” in colorwork prior to class. Mary achieved gauge in a size 6 (the pattern called for size 4 needles but Mary ended up using a size 6) but everyone knits a bit differently. The pattern has a list of the requirements needed for the pattern.
Also, if you have an alternative pattern that you would prefer to use, Mary can offer support and help as you work on it.
